nfh249 Posted 26 October , 2009 Share Posted 26 October , 2009 Hi all, Anyone any ideas as to the regiment of this chap? I'm not very good with cap badges! Cheers, Neil. Here's a closer look...
Staffsyeoman Posted 26 October , 2009 Share Posted 26 October , 2009 From the fuzzy shape alone I would postulate 1. 11th Hussars 2. Leicestershire Yeomanry. The gentleman sitting down is interesting; two wound stripes on his suit and what seems to be a Queen's South African War Medal with two clasps. Guest Posted 26 October , 2009 Share Posted 26 October , 2009 Could it be The Buffs ( East Kent Regiment ) ? Mike
max7474 Posted 26 October , 2009 Share Posted 26 October , 2009 I too though the POW Feathers but thought infantry such as the Welsh?
nfh249 Posted 27 October , 2009 Author Share Posted 27 October , 2009 Thanks for the suggestions guys, we don't know anything about the service of either man but at least now I've got somewhere to start! Thanks again, Neil.
nfh249 Posted 27 October , 2009 Author Share Posted 27 October , 2009 So, the best options seem to be: 10th Hussars or the Welsh Regiment But... I've had a look at the MIC's for him (Richard Gage) and the mostly likely candidate seems to be Gage, Richard Corps: Liverpool Regiment Regiment No: 75512 Rank: Private If so, does anyone think the Kings (Liverpool) Regiment badge is a possibility? Cheers, Neil.
Staffsyeoman Posted 27 October , 2009 Share Posted 27 October , 2009 Too tall for a King's Regiment badge - think the part sticking out is a blemish rather than part of the badge.
daggers Posted 27 October , 2009 Share Posted 27 October , 2009 Following the suggestion of King's Liverpool, could it be the Eagle & Child badge of the Pals Battalions, 17th-20th KLR? This is a shot in the dark with eyes closed. I see Rd Gage went from KLR to Labour Corps.
nfh249 Posted 28 October , 2009 Author Share Posted 28 October , 2009 The Pals battalion... I didn't realise Pals battalions might have different badges to their parent regiments. It does look like an outside possibility, but there definitely looks like there is something more between the scroll and the top of the badge. Pals Battalion Badge Regards, Neil.
