bill54 Posted 24 October , 2009 Share Posted 24 October , 2009 Can anyone please tell me anything about the attached picture. Are these RA ? Any ideas about the cloth badges on the left ? The arm badge looks like the driving skill badge, crown over whip and spur.
Staffsyeoman Posted 24 October , 2009 Share Posted 24 October , 2009 Is it not rather an Equitation Instructor? Grumpy will know, but I thought a DRIVING instructor was a spur with crossed whips within the spur. Horeshoe over stripes left arm.. perhaps Shoeing Smith Sergeant Major? daggers Posted 27 October , 2009 Share Posted 27 October , 2009 Has no-one said RA? Yes! [not the lad or the dog, so far as we can tell].
ian turner Posted 27 October , 2009 Share Posted 27 October , 2009 Certainly RA. Can't help with the arm badges, though - farriers?
Staffsyeoman Posted 27 October , 2009 Share Posted 27 October , 2009 Gunners, certainly (Field or Horse, unlikely to be Garrison) - and I'll stick my neck out and suggest it might even be (slightly) pre-War.
Ladon Posted 27 October , 2009 Author Share Posted 27 October , 2009 Thanks for all the info. In summary it looks like : RA Far left Riding Instructor Second from left Farrier / Shoesmith Regarding the date, on the back is written 1915, but in theory anyone could have written that.
