HEWITT BROTHERS

HEWITT George, Private 11460, 5th King’s Shropshire Light Infantry killed in action 25th September 1915 aged 22 Son of Emily Hewitt, of 26, Heywood Grove, Brooklands, Sale, Cheshire, and the late Thomas Hewitt and the brother Charles and of Thomas who also fell on the same day, battle and commemorated on the same memorial Commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium

HEWITT Thomas, Private 9304, 5th King’s Shropshire Light Infantry killed in action 25th September 1915 aged 24 Son of Emily Hewitt, of 26, Heywood Grove, Brooklands, Sale, Cheshire, and the late Thomas Hewitt and the brother of Charles who fell and of George who also fell on the same day, battle and commemorated on the same memorial, The Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium

Charles Arthur their brother also fell 29th July 1918

All Three are commemorated on St Alkmund's church War Memorial, Whitchurch, Shropshire

What a sad lose for Emily to have to bear.

Thomas landed in France with the 2nd Battalion on 21st Dec. 1914. Not sure when he trans. to 5th Battalion.
