Mark Finneran Posted 22 October , 2009 Share Posted 22 October , 2009 Apologies for a rather 'spotter' question. Does anyone have any detail on when hessian or ersatz material started being used to replace the leather pads on the schlitten? Obviously a war economy measure and therefore tail end of the war. Picture shows leather padded example, but slightly used!! however I am restoring another sled (1917) which needs appropiate 'cushions'. At some point the factories started using alternatives to leather let alone armourer repair. VMT Mark
