Jesse Posted 22 October , 2009 Author Share Posted 22 October , 2009 Thanks, Rob. I notice that the 5th only had two fatalities during August, and those were two weeks apart. I wondered just what had happened to Wilkie, maybe a sniper or a shell. Jesse... 2nd Lt G.S.M. WILKIE. Joined the 5th Bn 13th July 1915. Wounded 2nd August 1915 Died of wounds 4th August 1915. weejoe Posted 28 October , 2009 Share Posted 28 October , 2009 Looking for data re Lt. George Wilkie's death on Aug. 4th. Hi, According to the Black Watch history of the 5th Battalion, Lt Wilkie died in the Neuve Chapelle sector, during a so called 'quiet period' during August, the 5th Battalion had 85 casualties during August 1915,this figure almost certainly was for all categories ie., killed wounded and missing, and illness, as there is no mention of trench raids during August the probable cause of death of Lt. Wilkie would be by shell fire or by a sniper, hope hope this is of some help to you. Joe O'Raw (weejoe)
