Mark Foxe Posted 20 October , 2009 Posted 20 October , 2009 A check on Ancestry (kindly undertaken by a fellow GWF member) has not been able to shed any light on 214302 Pioneer H. Robinson, 3rd Special Company RE. All I possess is a date of death (27 February 1917) and CWGC Cemetery (Cite Bonjean Military Cemetery). I would be grateful if someone may be able to assist me in finding more about this soldier. Thanks in anticipation. Mark

National Service 1952 Posted 21 October , 2009 Posted 21 October , 2009 Mark I don't know if this is going to be any help During the winter of 1916 no general withdrawal of the Special Companies from the line was ordered, but the projector was developed and greatly improved, large numbers were manufactured and the Brigade was practised in its use. In February 1917, a reduction of about 15 per cent of the strength of the Special Brigade was effected in order to provide personnel for gas defence in various formations.
