214302 Pioneer H. Robinson

A check on Ancestry (kindly undertaken by a fellow GWF member) has not been able to shed any light on 214302 Pioneer H. Robinson, 3rd Special Company RE. All I possess is a date of death (27 February 1917) and CWGC Cemetery (Cite Bonjean Military Cemetery).

I would be grateful if someone may be able to assist me in finding more about this soldier.

Thanks in anticipation.

I don't know if this is going to be any help

During the winter of 1916 no general withdrawal of the Special Companies from the line was ordered, but the projector was developed and greatly improved, large numbers were manufactured and the Brigade was practised in its use.

In February 1917, a reduction of about 15 per cent of the strength of the Special Brigade was effected in order to provide personnel for gas defence in various formations.
