hello hello people,

am doing some family research and want to know more about my great grandfather patrick(padraig in gaelic) mcleod(macleod). I know he was roughly born in in 1895 ish, was born in strond, isle of harris, western isles. he is pictured in another thread His majesty's motor launch (351) and was in the royal navy i think. Ive heard from older family members that he was in borneo at some time in ww1 with his older brother donald.Anyone able to give advice/help in finding out his service records?

thanks

Angus

On another thread you mention a family member who was in the RNR, if your great grandfather was also in that service his records are not online.

ROLL OF NAVAL WAR MEDALS are on microfilm:

Royal Naval Reserve: Ratings ADM 171/120 A-Cun to ADM 171/124 Sha-Z

Microfiche copies of the service cards are in BT 377/7, at the UK National Archives Kew; as they are in service number order you'll need to know that. The original cards are at the Fleet Air Arm Museum.
