alain dubois Posted 11 October , 2009 Share Posted 11 October , 2009 Hi Abstract from French war diary of 84th Territorial Infantry Division : "La proximité des troupes anglaises donne lieu à une méprise à Forest, dans laquelle deux cavaliers anglais sont tués (voir messages téléphonés n°s 5 et 11); à la suite de cette méprise le général d'Aumade prescrit de se mettre directement en liaison avec l'armée anglaise." "August 22, 1914. The proximity of the British troops gave rise to a misunderstanding at Forest(*), where two English horsemen are killed (see telephoned messages Nos. 5 and 11) as a result of this mistake the general d'Aumade required to link up directly with the British army. " It's the 19th Brigade as reported next. Did you know this fact, and who are the two victims ? (*) Forest en Cambrésis, near Cambrai (?)
