OpsMajor Posted 22 October , 2009 Author Share Posted 22 October , 2009 Peter I'm not really a camera buff but I'll see what I can manage - at least to establish whether it's been re-erected or not. Out of curiosity - is there a particular story to Pte Stevenson? Mike
tjpatti Posted 23 October , 2009 Share Posted 23 October , 2009 Thanks to everyone for all that. I am in Ypres this weekend and intend to visit POPERINGHE NEW MILITARY CEMETERY and his grave. Mike Make sure you take a coat and scarf - have just got back from Ypres and I can tell you the wind is whistling and chilly, especially at Tyne Cot. Mk VII Posted 23 October , 2009 Share Posted 23 October , 2009 No it doesn't. 'This is the first sentence of death on an officer to be put into execution since I became C-in-C.' How does that statement imply there were sentences before he became C-in-C? The statement is qualified. It might just be read to mean that he has no knowledge of whatever happened before he succeeded French.
