CGM Posted 4 October , 2009 Share Posted 4 October , 2009 While spending some more time researching my Grandad's war service I found this press release from one month ago. Caulfield Hospital is commemorating it's use as an army hospital during The Great War. My Grandad was treated here, in 1919, after being injured by a horse at Messines Ridge, the previous year. Caulfield Hospital, Melbourne. New Memorial Regards CGM (Edited, as I was called away, and clicked submit before it was finished.)
armidale Posted 4 October , 2009 Share Posted 4 October , 2009 CGM Thanks for the article, but it may give a false impression that Caulfield "repat", as we knew it, was WW1 specific. It was in full swing during the forties as this pic shows 141518 Maker: Herald Newspaper Physical description: Black & white Summary: Caulfield, Vic. 1944-08-02. Servicemen and ex-servicemen of World War I and World War II giving three cheers for Sister E. K. Johnson, who has resigned from the staff of the Caulfield Repatriation Hospital to take up a position at the Hobart Repatriation Hospital.
