92 years ago, The Battle of Broodseinde.

Right on the spot where I'm writing this ,between Tyne Cot & Broodseinde, 92 years ago it was less quiet then today...

In memory of the men of 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters who fought in the area of Poelcapelle and took Ferdan House. Half of the Battalion were casualties.

Fred Greaves won his Victory Cross taking a bunker in the vicinity of Ferdan House.

One of the men who died of wounds on 5th October -

Private Daubney - Enlisted November 1914, served on Gallipoli, Egypt and France/Flanders.

He was 37 years old and had fought in the Boer War with the King's Royal Rifles - Queen's medal with 3 clasps, King's medal with 2 clasps.

Wounded at messines in 1917.

Never Forgotten
