What a noble sacrifice

Admirable stuff! I'm sure it made the other ranks feel so much better, knowing that their officers were making such sacrifices.

I have no doubt that while Grandad was being starved as a POW he would have been gratified to know that his officers were doing without their mid-morning glass of port.

Bless 'em though, I suppose they were trying.
