Paul Crook Posted 27 September , 2009 Share Posted 27 September , 2009 I have tried to find records of my great-unclue Sgt John Crook ( Service Number 20706) who served in the 8th Bedfordshire Bn. He died at Bethune on 17/4/1917 (presumably at the Field Hospital) and is buried at the Town Cemetry. Having tried and failed to find his service record at the National Archive I presume them to be in the burnt series of papers. Has anyone any more advice on how I can go any further. Many thanks Paul
ralphjd Posted 27 September , 2009 Share Posted 27 September , 2009 Paul. The only thing that exists for him on Ancestry is his medal card. It would appear that his records were lost in the Blitz WW2, only about 30% survived. Ralph.
