Advice re: Grenadier Guards Insignia

GRANVILLE

Recommended Posts

Can someone advise about the insignia worn by the GG's. Cloth shoulder titles are recognised, but what about the epaulettes? Did they wear brass 'G.G' with a number for 1st, 2nd or 3rd GG? If so has anyone got a picture of what these look like etc.

Cheers,

Dave Upton

Dave,

the Grenadier Guards wore the brass initials 'G G' below a flaming grenade on their shoulder straps. Battalion indicators were worn on the upper arm, these were in the style of coloured cloth Roman numerals with the exception of the 2nd Bn who wore a white number '2' on a red square,

cheers, Jon
