Tony Ring Posted 26 September , 2009 Share Posted 26 September , 2009 The second of two brothers I am researching - Private Ernest Ashley Todd. 44609, arrived in France in September 1917. He was with the 1st Batt, Canterbury Regiment. He was KIA on the 6th April 1918 and buried in the Knightsbridge Cemetery at Mesnil- Martinsart in the Somme. I understand he was killed near Le Signey Farm. Does anyone know what action this was. Thank you. Tony
CROONAERT Posted 26 September , 2009 Share Posted 26 September , 2009 For a start, here's the extract from the regimental history that covers the time of his death. I think I may have their War Diary for this period too, but I'll have to have a look... Dave.

Tony Ring Posted 26 September , 2009 Author Share Posted 26 September , 2009 ...Ernest (and his brother's) listing in the honour roll from the regimental history... Thank you for the information. The J Todd on the honour roll is not his brother Oliver. He was in the 6th Battery, 2nd NZ Field Artillery. I appreciate your assistance as its a good start.
