CAMSUBDOU Posted 24 September , 2009 Share Posted 24 September , 2009 Hi i am trying to get information about a P.O,M. in the R.N.A.S his name is C. Rennie and his number was F-11605. There was a story that he had served on the Hood, i have tried looking for info on the N.A. but i am unable to find my way through the archives to as i am not very familiar with these records. Any assistance on this matter would be appreciated as once or twice my monitor was in grave danger of being tossed out of the window LOL. Many thanks in anticipation, Walter. horatio2 Posted 24 September , 2009 Share Posted 24 September , 2009 Petty Officer (not Pilot Officer). His service record can be obtained from Kew here:- http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/documen...p;resultcount=1 Alternatively, you will find the same record and perhaps other papers at the Fleet Air Arm Museum. per ardua per mare per terram Posted 24 September , 2009 Share Posted 24 September , 2009 If he served on the Hood it would have been post WWI, she was not in Commission, or even completed, during the war. If he transferred to the RAF he should have another service record in AIR 79, unless he was still serving after the cut off period.
horatio2 Posted 24 September , 2009 Share Posted 24 September , 2009 He could also have been one of the numerous RNAS (and other) ratings whose transfers to the RAF were cancelled in late 1918 and returned to the naval fold. Their papers are at the FAAM.
