johndavidswarbrick Posted 22 September , 2009 Share Posted 22 September , 2009 One of the men whom I am researching, according to his surviving papers, served in Salonika from January 1916 until March 1919. There are two sets of initials associated with his unit there: BHTD and YMAC. Has anyone any ideas as to what the initials might stand for? Thanks, Dave Swarbrick
Ron Clifton Posted 22 September , 2009 Share Posted 22 September , 2009 Hello Dave BHTD is the Base Horse Transport Depot, an ASC unit. Can't help you with YMAC, I'm afraid, unless he was discharged on health grounds and then took a job with the YMCA, which ran refreshment huts and the like for the troops.
