djcrtoye Posted 19 September , 2009 Share Posted 19 September , 2009 Hi, could any body help. I've just found out that my ggranda served with them. I know from his MIC that he served from 1916 onwards. My question is what actions would he have possibly seen with them ? Thanks Dominic.

I have a similar interest in my Great Uncle, Pte Albert E Cade S/11376 Seaforth Higlanders. I know he was in France for many months, I think at Ypres. Suffering from trench feet and a bullet wound to the knee, he returned to England for medical treatment. I believe he was then sent to Egypt and believe he was on the HMT Aragon and HMS Attack when they were torpedoed and sunk off Alexandria, 30 Dec 1917. When rescued from the sea I believe he was returned to Malta but dont know why as most survivors were landed in Alexandria. I presume he was on his way to join the Ist Batallion which was in Mesopotamia but arrived Palestine mid Jan 1918. My grandmother ( his sister) said he was going to Mesopotamia. If you, or anyone else have any more info you could share I would be very grateful. I would be particularly interested to find out if he was travelling alone to Egypt or as a batch of reinforcements for the 1st Batallion.
