I am researching Charles James Blanche b1882, a Boer War veteran who was injured between 21st and 26th September 1916 as part of the BEF.

His records shows he was in 2nd Btn Coldstream Guards at the time and I wondered if anyone could shed some light on their deployment during this time from the Diary.

Many thanks in advance

Nigel

Hi Nigel

I may be way off but I think they would have been with the Gaurds Division on the Somme, from the 21st to the 30th of September 1916 they were engaged at Lesboeufs eventually capturing the village on the 25th.I am sure an expert on the Guards will put that right.

all the best Gary.

Thanks very much Gary, that is a great help. As you say, I'm sure we will be pointed in the right direction if not.

Cheers,

Nigel
