I've also got Edward Henry Hughes Cufflin on the memorial and I think he is Clarence's younger brother. I'm fairly sure that this Clarence is my man, as the name is not so common. The wording on the MIC is as follows, Comm. L'pool R. 28.5.18. If Clarence was commisioned, am I right in thinking that there will be a Gazette entry to be found? That occoured to me about bieng outside the box and also it saying what looks like R&F. Glad it looks like some type of tie up. Its just struck me you might find his record in the officers records.
