Old War Skule Posted 17 September , 2009 Share Posted 17 September , 2009 I saw a pretty nice looking set of US collar disks (US and Infantry, B Co.) a few minutes ago on eBay. The crossed rifles are M1903s on a stippled back ground, and I wondered if anyone knows when the M1903 replaced the earlier rifle on the insignia? Guest MD Anglerman Posted 23 November , 2009 Share Posted 23 November , 2009 The M1903 Springfield on collar identification came into being with War Department G.O. 197, dated December 31, 1904. From that point until 1910, even for enlisted personnnel, the badge was not a disk but two crossed Springfields. The 1 inch disk was presribed by the War Department July 1, 1910. Hope this helps.
