Guest Posted 29 June , 2011 Share Posted 29 June , 2011 ohn, Not sure if this is posted correctly. If you go to Woodgrange cemetary, would you see if a grave is still in existance. (Great grand-mothers) (Great Grand-fathers) grave no 9922 square 45 I would be grateful if a picture could be taken. Thanks Carol

CGM Posted 11 March , 2016 Share Posted 11 March , 2016 I visited Woodgrange Park Cemetery on Tuesday. It seems to be a terrible mess. There is no sign of any gardening and new graves are gradually replacing the existing graves, starting along the edges of the paths. This is the view through the entrance. However, it is very out of keeping with the burial areas each side.
CGM Posted 11 March , 2016 Share Posted 11 March , 2016 Looking to the left: Cleared ground, damaged trees, mixed graves and, in the distance, pale grey tall, dead weeds.
CGM Posted 11 March , 2016 Share Posted 11 March , 2016 Continuing along the new pathway, then turning left and looking left: New graves along the path, original graves in the weeds.
CGM Posted 11 March , 2016 Share Posted 11 March , 2016 And continuing along that path, still looking left, we found this CWGC headstone next to a pile of demolished original gravestones and debris.

Guest Posted 26 January , 2017 Share Posted 26 January , 2017 I was wondering if someone could help me with a question ? My Great Grandfather who is listed on the panel of the war memorial above was wounded in action and brought back to England where he died in hospital of his injuries, When I was researching him I found he had been buried at Woodgrange & had a grave number but when I looked it up it said he was on the memorial but no headstone. I just wondered why some of the dead have a CWG headstone and some don't?
paulgranger Posted 26 January , 2017 Share Posted 26 January , 2017 Oh dear. Both my paternal grandfather, who served with the Monmouths, and was invalided out in November 1917, and who died in 1964 on his 70th birthday, and a sister of mine, who died in 1956 at the age of 3, were buried there. I can remember visiting the cemetery fairly often in the '50s and '60's, but then those visits petered out, and we stopped. I have no idea whereabouts in the cemetery either grave was. Both my parents are now dead, and can't be asked. Judging by the contents of this thread, I should think the plots have long since been reused.
