Hi

I recieved confirmation that Ernest Gould had been given status to be added to National Debt of Honour back in Sept 2009 and he still hasnt been added to the CWGC website Theres now been a release of docs on a well known site with this info on.

The vicar of the church in question thinks he must lie in an unmarked grave in the graveyard as theres nothing in his register at the church.

Does anyone with experience of these things know if this document will allow Ernest to be finally added to the National Debt Of Honour?

Thanks

Ady

Just had some great news today following some work by Morley FHS it has come to light that some people that were buried in a public/paupers grave werent put in the index however they were in the actual Register itself

To that end Ernests grave has now been identified it is in a well kept graveyard so it wont be difficult to pinpoint.

Hopefully CWGC can get a headstone for his grave.

If the grave can be pinpointed and there isnt a family headstone, then it;s CWGC's usual practice to erect one of their standard headstones.

Just received an email from CWGC ref Ernest Gould and the search for his grave.

Unfortunately it can't be pinpointed even with evidence in previous posts so this looks like he won't have a Headstone.

RIP Ernest.

Based on the information that you had provided within your original non-commemoration submission we have attempted to locate the grave of Private Gould in East Ardsley (St. Michael) Churchyard. However, despite the efforts of our Regional Supervisor and the assistance of the church authorities, it has not been possible to confirm that Private Gould was buried within this churchyard.

As this is the case and as we cannot find confirmation of his location of burial, we will therefore be amending the commemoration of Private Gould to the Brookwood (United Kingdom 1914-1918) Memorial. His name will not be engraved on this memorial immediately but will need to be fitted into our existing works schedule and will be completed as soon as is practically possible.

That's been a long run Ady. I still have a copy of your original CWGC submission letter, which you sent me to use as a template for my first case.

Well done and full marks for persistence.
