Jon Miller Posted 21 April , 2004 Share Posted 21 April , 2004 To the best of my knowledge, this battalion were in the Falcon Support road, Northumberland Road, and Goat Trench on 23 Aug 1918. I imagine these places to be between Boyelles and Boisleux St Marc. Please could someone confirm this, or if wrong, tell me where these places actually were? bmac Posted 22 April , 2004 Share Posted 22 April , 2004 Correct although Falcon Trench is the only one mentioned in the regimental history. There is a map of the attack, not showing the British trenches, in The War History of the 4th Battalion, The London Regiment by Grimwade (reprinted by N&M Press at £22). Jon Miller Posted 22 April , 2004 Author Share Posted 22 April , 2004 Thank you Bill! Does this mean you happen to have the history of the 1st/4th London Regt?
bmac Posted 22 April , 2004 Share Posted 22 April , 2004 Yup. My grandfather is mentioned in it several times. He was commissioned into them in July 1916.
