Peter Doyle Posted 26 August , 2009 Share Posted 26 August , 2009 Fantastic collection...I have a variant not listed, 'Kaiser Bill' with moustaches...(normal size) But, who made them, how were they distributed, and, apart from the obvious answer, why...? auchonvillerssomme Posted 26 August , 2009 Share Posted 26 August , 2009 They are well copied and there being no way that you could tell what was made yesterday and what was made 90 years ago, wouldn't touch them. Mick

Mick Hi Mick. Yes there are a lot of copies - but i think i can see the difference on the most of them. There are one copy in my pictures - its the yellow one - "To Der Fuhrer", its an American copy - and very typical for them! (Americans), frame 6 top rigth. If you wont touch them - theres more for me and other collectors. Regards Mads
auchonvillerssomme Posted 26 August , 2009 Share Posted 26 August , 2009 This is a copy and sold as a copy - can you tell the difference? Up to the collectors of course but if this went on ebay as an original then someone would fall for it. Mick

Mick I bougth one on Ebay, just to have one to compare with, and yes - I can tell the difference - the copy is around 1 mm smaller than the original because of the production metod. Normally the original is also painted black, but off course some maybe without paint. And yes - somebody could fall for it - like we all can fall for copies of all kinds of badges and medals. Mads Stenroos-Dam Posted 27 August , 2009 Author Share Posted 27 August , 2009 "But, who made them, how were they distributed, and, apart from the obvious answer, why...?" Peter Hello Peter Look at the thread "Spoof Iron Cross - Part 2". But they were produced in UK, and primarily sold on marketplaces and at different foundraising meetings. In the other thread, you can see an envelope from a "Toy-producer", its from the cross "For Kultur", and in my opinion thats the proof for the origin of the crosses. I will mail you an translation of a article on the crosses (from Danish to English), if you send me your E-mail adress. Regards Mads
Tony N Posted 27 August , 2009 Share Posted 27 August , 2009 I'll be keeping an eye out for them in future. I only have one but will buy more if I see them around for a good price. Great collection Mads. Tony
