tim_oz Posted 16 August , 2009 Share Posted 16 August , 2009 Terry They did not become the Royal Australian Engineers until 31 January 1936 at the time of the war they were known as the Australian Engineers. All AIF units wore the standard "rising sun" badge with units being distinguished by color patches on their shoulders. This site has examples of all the patches. Scroll down on the left and select Engineers. http://www.unsw.adfa.edu.au/~rmallett/index.html Tim B
Fromelles Posted 16 August , 2009 Share Posted 16 August , 2009 Hi Terry, What period are you after? The AIF (Engineers included) used the standard Rising Sun badge. Though you do see the odd picture of men wearing their respective pre war badges it wasn't something that was standard. If we're talking Pre (c.1912) or Post War (c.1930) then you'd have a seperate badge for both the Malitia and Permanent Forces. Or, are we talking something earlier or more modern still? Cheers, Dan
