He was born in Hamburg and was 20 yrs old when this picture was taken there in 1916 . He appears to be wearing the 1910 Waffenrock with Swedish cuffs and high turnover collar. centurion Posted 3 August , 2009 Share Posted 3 August , 2009 Possibly a Fahnrich (gentleman cadet) who has just passed his exam and been allocated to a regiment (these were known as sword cadets as they carried an officer' sword rather than a senior NCO's).
