apwright Posted 31 July , 2009 Share Posted 31 July , 2009 Just had a look at his service record on Ancestry, and it says he was taken POW on 19/4/17 (2nd Battle of Gaza?) and died of malaria or tropical cachexy at Yarbashi/Yarbaschi (= Yarbaşı in SE Turkey) on 30/10/17. Jarbaschi would be the German spelling. He was originally buried in the cemetery outside Yarbasi hospital, and probably moved to Baghdad after the war. Hope this helps!
