I wonder if the journalist was using poetic language? So describing not the specific, actual white ensign from the raid? But rather the idea that they had fought under the white ensign, as sailors do?

Hi everyone on this thread,

Having carried out quite a lot of research on Lloyd I now have quite a bit of info on him and his family.

 

I appreciate that some posts on here are a few years old now so I will hang fire to see what responses I get, but, briefly. The Ensign is on display in Dover museum along with the presentation plaque. The medals (including the DSC and Bar) are now back with the family in Canada.
