Can anyone confirm that this photo is of soldiers in 1914 emergency issue uniforms before Khakil ones came in. The cap badges are for the Royal Irish Regt.

Definately the emergency 'blue' pattern uniform, as I have several such photo's myself of early raised "Kitchener" battalions Northumberland Fusiliers who were also equipped with the same uniform.

Don't know when the Royal Irish adopted their's, but as a rule of thumb it appears that it was K3 units that took to wearing the emergency blue in large numbers. In the case of the Northumberlands it was the 10th through to 15th Bn's, but some units may have got hold of it much earlier.
