Gew88/05 Posted 20 August , 2016 Share Posted 20 August , 2016 (edited) The Broad Arrow is the mark showing British Government ownership. The "Crown" over "Y5" over " italicized B " signifies Birmingham inspection and may indicate manufacture by BSA. MikB Posted 3 October , 2023 Share Posted 3 October , 2023 I saw a very indistinct image of a drawing that *looked as if it might say* 0.57" OD x 24 TPI - but likely the only real answer's a caliper and pitch gauge. Almost certainly a screwcutting job nowadays - I'd think you'd need to be dead lucky to find a tap or die.

These are used with the Long Lees etc Some have asked if the bottles can be left unpolished? Sure it means less work, but will you state your preference? Fromelles Posted 6 October , 2023 Share Posted 6 October , 2023 (edited) 15 hours ago, battle of loos said: - Australia - Small Arms Factory Lithgow Mk IV - 15951 Michel, I've not seen an Aussie oil bottle numbered to the rifle, the 'V' will indicate it was issued in the State of Victoria, this bottle is likely to be pre 1914 as the stamping of State initials was changed to Military Districts in late 1913; Victoria becoming '3MD' (3rd Military District).
