Guest hike65 Posted 19 July , 2009 Share Posted 19 July , 2009 Hello all, Does anyone have a source for WW1 German submarine plans that could possibly be used to make scale sub models? Information is scant on this subject regarding scale model plans to scratchbuild models! Thanks much, Phil
JMcCulloch Posted 20 July , 2009 Share Posted 20 July , 2009 Ask Gordon Williamson at the gmic.co.uk website. he is a Uboot expert-and a world class scale modeler.
Clio Posted 20 July , 2009 Share Posted 20 July , 2009 With due respect to Gordon Williamson, the ultimate source (which he would acknowledge) is Eb Rossler's vade mecum The U-boat - the evolution and technical history of German submarinesbut Bendert's respective volumes also contain plans of UB and UCs. All three books are in print and available. U-boat net has a special forum devoted to U-boat modelling. Contributors are not just experts, I have always found them very friendly and eager to help. They built me a Type VIIc - with an inside ! Please let us know how you get on. I have always wanted a UCII model.
amlovell Posted 20 July , 2009 Share Posted 20 July , 2009 Ask Heinrich whose 3D models can be found http://dreadnoughtproject.org/heinrich I also have astonishing plans for Projekt 50 (an unbuilt U-Kreuzer) and U63-65 (albeit, that one has no sections). There is an excellent UB-16 plan made by Lothar Wischmeyer, available commercially. tone
