Privates John Glew and Sam Glew.

Any information please on Private 6516 John Glew 1st/4th Bttn Kings own Yorkshire Light Infantry who died on 14/09/1916

and Private 7235 Sam Glew 1st/7th Bttn Duke of Wellingtons (West Riding Regiment who died on 17/09/1916

Sam's medal card attached. Sorry for quality - had a hard time down sizing this. Has a look at John's but nothing of interest on his.

Hi Auchonvillerssom.

Would you say that the surname Glew was a common name or uncommon because I have been trying to research a fella called Walter Glew, (Cpl) Service number 3497 was serving in the 24th Bn Royal Fusiliers killed 24/03/1918.

Could this chap Walter have been related? who knows,as I cannot find anything about him where he came from, no service records ect.

Living at Field Head, Belper

In 1901, John is married with three children an is a Brick Yard Labourer, living at 40, Barker Lane, Chesterfield

Samuel is an iron moulder, still living with parents, now at Penn Street, Belper

In 1901 there are 10 Walter GLEW's, ranging from 6 to 45 yrs old

It is a relatively unusual name in SDGW which would presumably be reflected countrywide. heres your mans card.
