Chris Caul Posted 20 February , 2003 Share Posted 20 February , 2003 My great grandfather was in Mesopotamia throughout the war, and as far as I am aware he only served there. He joined up with the Notts and Derbys but I believe he was transferred to the Labour corps. Does anyone know if British Army Labour Corps units served in Mesopotamia? I have seen Indian Labour Corps units listed, but not British. Also, does anyone know of any books that are written specifically about the Mesopotamia campaign. Chris_Baker Posted 20 February , 2003 Share Posted 20 February , 2003 There were quite a few references to books on this campaign, in this thread.

Ivor Lee Posted 21 February , 2003 Share Posted 21 February , 2003 Chris As far as I have been able to establish there are no records of any British Labour Corps units serving in Mesopotamia. However the Indian Labour Corps and other native Labour units in the area were administered by a Labour Directorate. So I think it safe to assume that there would have been a small number of Labour Corps men undertaking administrative tasks.
