Help find information my Grandfather please

James Bertram Benton served in the 12th Battalion Welch Regiment and the Kings Liverpool Regt.

James was born at Stratford, Westham in 1891 and Enlisted at Newport on 12th August 1914 and

Discharged at Nottingham 15th October 1917[no longer fit for war service]

I have his Silver War badge[b168334]

He married Mary Ann Morris at Holyhead,Angleysea,Wales 9th May 1916 and was a Sergeant 12th Batt. Welch Regt. Witnesses were SGT. William Charles Jones and Charlotte Jones.

Service numbers were:

Welch Regt.[11331]

Kings Liverpool Regt.[54913]

Labour Corps certificate[193176]

Amounts of time in each unit unknown.

I know the reason he was discharged was that he had been gassed but I am unable to trace any medals other than the silver war badge to tell me where or how it may have occured

Any information would be terrific .

Regards Neville Benton
