well that has rather blown me away , that he is KIA thanks for this and the MIC.

Are we saying then that he joined as soon as he was 17 and was killed when he was 18 , also why would he have 2 regimental numbers ?.

And last but not least does anyone know what the regiment where doing at the time of his death ?

not lastly actually can anyone do anything on ancestry and the census i would like to see where he was from.

So many thanks again Rich M :ph34r:

Ancestry:

1901 census: PM me with your e mail address; I will send you a copy of the page you need - it has some details on age etc that you should see.

Suspect that he stayed in KOYLI but have no idea why he changed numbers. Suggest talking to:

Sorry but KOYLI is not my subject.

The 2nd number was issue out to the 5th Battalion KOYLI after Jan 1917, when all of the TF unit were re-numbered 240001-265000

Rich

2/5th patrol on 8/3/17 under command of 2nd Lt J Atkins in area of Miramount-Achiet-le-Petit came under heavy MG fire the lads carried out their tasking of gaining intelligence however one was KIA and two wounded so this is a good possibility its your lad.

Atkins was awarded the MC for this action.
