Guest Posted 11 April , 2004 Share Posted 11 April , 2004 I am looking for information on a relative of mine who is meant to have died in the great war. However, we have come across a few difficulties in discovering where and under what circumstances he died. His name was Robin Clunie DAle and he was brought up in Cheshire, by his parents, Francis Dale and Helen Mary Nicholson. However, he enlisted in Canada, but we are unsure of which division, etc. We think he may have been a Luietenant and he was 19 years of age when he died in around about August of 1917, possibly in France, (on this point we aree most unsure). We would much appreciate some help in this matter, as all home searches have failed to lead to any answers!! Much thanks to anyone that can help ! Guest Pete Wood Posted 12 April , 2004 Share Posted 12 April , 2004 Francis Clunie Dale and Mary Nicholson were married in West Derby in the September quarter of 1885. Do you know if this family had any more children, apart from Robert....??
marc leroux Posted 12 April , 2004 Share Posted 12 April , 2004 There are 152 entries for "Dale" on the Canadian "Soldiers of the First World War" site. The only two that look like they could fit are 2 "Robert Dale" entries, but one lists Scotland as his place of birth, the other London. Doesn't sound like either is your man, so perhaps he didn't enlist in Canada. marc
