centurion Posted 14 July , 2009 Share Posted 14 July , 2009 I think you are being a mite optimistic as to distance of the Travel Lodges - the closest is 1.5 miles away and some are 5 miles away. When you've had a good dinner and a few pints or the like afterwards that can be a long way.
Pighills Posted 14 July , 2009 Share Posted 14 July , 2009 Sorry, we are still trying to get our babysitter for the weekend confirmed. Hopefully I will be able to fully commit tomorrow night!
Brian Curragh Posted 14 July , 2009 Share Posted 14 July , 2009 Thanks for all your efforts Magic Rat. Does this mean we book our own accomodation or are you taking things further on the accommodation front? Squirrel Because the venue's own accommodation has proved to be unsuitable for the majority of us I think the best advice is to book your own accommodation - the Travelodges are still offering rooms for £29 this evening so they are probably the best solution currently. Centurion is quite right that the nearest is 1.5 miles away but if we don't fancy a stagger I am sure we can sort out some taxis. Alan & I are in the Birmingham Central Travelodge while Keith is in the Broadway Plaza one so there are bound to be a number of us heading in that general direction after the bar at the Tally Ho shuts! keithmroberts Posted 15 July , 2009 Share Posted 15 July , 2009 Prices are changing fast - I paid £29 plus breakfast for the Plaza one yesterday! Word has obviously gone round Birmingham already. Keith
bruce Posted 15 July , 2009 Share Posted 15 July , 2009 Just a thought. Although some of the Pals are well-known (and Broomers would just have to flash his knees), many of us are known just be a nom-de-guerre on the Forum. Might name tags be an idea....incorporating our Forum name and real name (unless someone wants to be there anonymously!)? Just a thought............ Orson Posted 15 July , 2009 Share Posted 15 July , 2009 Bruce Already considered and I've told Mr Rat they will be available. This is likely to be my part in the whole proceedings! Mrs Rat
bruce Posted 15 July , 2009 Share Posted 15 July , 2009 Bravo, Madame Rodent! It should save a lot of time in introductions. Since you are obviously ahead of me in your thinking process, what have you not thought of yet? Bruce

Brian Curragh Posted 16 July , 2009 Share Posted 16 July , 2009 Peter Split between the Birmingham Central & Broadway Plaza Travelodges so far but they are very close to each other. There is also a third whose name escapes me which is also in the vicinity. Brian PS - the third one is Newhall Street which is just under a mile north of the other two and further from the venue - so go for either Central or Broadway Plaza
