Cheers Dave, its what I thought, but by the time I had stuck it all on my set, their wasn't a lot of room left to put anything else on it,nice webley.

If the left hip is deemed the ergonomically optimum place for a sword, then, if not carrying a sword, wouldn`t it also be the best place for a revolver? But then, all the fast draws in Westerns are from the right hip! Are there many occasions on which both sword and revolver would be carried?

in many of the "fights of '14".

The revolver, at this time, was considered to be the officer's "secondary" weapon. Later, it was common to encounter the pistol being carried on the left also.
