Hi pals

Looking for some advice here - my wife's grandfather served with the RHA and his MIC (below) shows he entered 'Theatre 5a' in December 1915. I understand from other threads that this was Arabia.

Anyone got any further ideas on where he might have served and who with etc. I know it's a bit vague  - but any info. or ideas would be most welcome.

Graham

Graham: According to Williamson prior to 31 Dec 1915, theater 5a was 'Mesopotamia and Bushire,' which pertains to Mesopotamia from 6 Nov 1914 to 31 Dec 1915 and Bushire from 28 Jun 1915 to 31 Dec 1915. You might check the medal rolls to see if a unit is listed. As he is RHA I would guess the most likely unit would be 'S' Battery, RHA which served in Mesopotamia during that time with the 6th Cavalry Brigade.

Regards, Dick Flory

Do you have his other MIC too?

Thanks for all other info.

I see the useless **@*!*s who made the index for Ancestry have even screwed this one up, putting his number as T13196. How pathetic.

There are 32 MICs to men named Bulling at DocumentsOnline and 28 at Ancestry. What is going on with their projects? They seem to give up halfway through. It's either that or they are down as Boiling, Bolling, Butting, 8ulling or Smith. Even so, there is still only the one card for W H Bulling so it looks as though his other card is lost. (He will have had another one, for his British War and Victory Medals).

Thank's Chris.

Bushire is news to me.

Thought you would like to know I have now found his second MIC as DocumentsOnline - as we thought he was in the Indian Ordnance Corps, which matches with his Service Records. (see here)

His 'rank' is given as "Sub-Conductor" - and ideas? Also, his clasp is listed as "M 826/23" - is this the 15 Star?

Thanks for the inputs, guys.

Does he have any records in the former India Office collection at the British Library?

A search on the website doesn't throw anything up.
