where is "BREAUGIES"

20th Division

Recommended Posts

The 20th Division were here when peace finally arrived in Nov 1918. It was near the town of BAVAY according to the 20th's official history(spelt Bavais in 1918) -----but I cannot find it on any modern map of France. The only explanation is that its name has been changed. Can anyone help please? "THANKS". DAVE.

Chemin de Breaugies is about 47km e-n-e of Cambrai. Is that what you're looking for? AntonyCK

Hi "bender02", Mike and Antony. "THANKS"--I will check out all 3 references to discover exactkly where BREAUGES is located. according to the maps and references it appears just to be a BLANK---no Village in sight! Perhaps it has changed its name since 1918?????. Antony-I will check out your reference to the "chemin de Breaugies".

Mike has it for sure. The chemin de breaugies leads from Ruinse n-w to a few houses and what looks like two or three big farms around a looped

road-set that is the hamlet of Breaugies.

Hi Dave. This could be the place.

Mike

THANKS MIKE!!!-----Got it now. What a small "hamlet"-----------it must have been quite a site to have seen a whole division camped out in and around it from November to December 1918.!!!

Grateful---------Dave.
