jamespage Posted 11 June , 2009 Posted 11 June , 2009 Hi, I need some guidance if anyone can help. I need to confirm some details that may be my Great Grandad, Firstly his name is Ernest Charles Cowley, Born 16.04.1879 Pershore county of Worcester. In 1911 he lived at 53 St Dunstans Rd Hanwell, Ealing with his wife and first child. I know he fought at the Battle of Loos and was wounded and later may have joined the ASC. Through this site the good people have identified for me a MIC which clearly states a name that could be his, regiment number 4274 and his ASC number M/333180. I would like to trace his service records which would confirm the details but at present no luck, they maybe part of the burnt series, i have tried the absent voters list for his area where he lived only to be told their records do not go back that far. All i want to do is link the MIC to him with his address so i know i have the correct person. Any suggestions, the Ealing county council have suggested that i try the National Libary any thoughts welcome. Regards Steve

Regards Steve Hi - cannot find any military record for your Gt Grandad but found him in 1901 cencus I think - was his wife ADA and a sister called Annie? I note there is a family tree from a Jane Cowley that give a full record of a Ernest Charles D.o.B. 16/04/1879 but no military in that tree - siblings info, parents, addresses and occupations etc. - any use?
