Rockdoc Posted 11 June , 2009 Share Posted 11 June , 2009 I've come across these photos in the images of 99th Anti-Aircraft Section that are with some of my Grandfather's papers. They show a searchlight on top of a tumulus and the supporting arms can be seen in the lower photograph so I'm sure that's what it is. Going by the chap standing in front of the shacks in the first photo, it must have been a fair old diameter and it seems to be mounted on some kind of carriage. It's never mentioned in the AAS War Diary, even in passing, but I'm intrigued by it. I know that these lights were operated by the RE but is anyone able to offer any info on the hardware?
