I'm going to drink a pint tonight in memory of Pte. Robert B. Hawkins, 19th Btn., CEF who was killed while advancing on Vimy Ridge on that fateful morning of April 9th 87 years ago. He hailed from Petersborough, Ontario and did his duty well.

Anyone is welcome to join me.

Cheers to you Robert!

And your fellow lads as well!

The 19th Battalion jumped off with the barrage at 0530 and by 0607 had reached Black Line (its objective) and dug in. Robert was very likely somewhere in the attached diagram and fell in that 37 minute period. Rest in Peace, Robert.
