Guest KevinEndon Posted 6 June , 2009 Share Posted 6 June , 2009 I have seen on ebay the stiff card and letter and scroll along with the plaque for sale but never an inner envelope which you would think would be attached to someone selling the whole lot. Hope that helps, and welcome to the forum, you will find it addictive. Kevin

Spud Trevor Posted 6 June , 2009 Share Posted 6 June , 2009 Hello Brookes, They were originally supplied in a paper envelope, which then sat in the stiff card four flapped envelope. The paper envelopes do not survive aswell as the stiff card. Regards, Spud
brookes Posted 7 June , 2009 Author Share Posted 7 June , 2009 thanks spud, i take it this envelope differs slightly from the envelope which contained the letter, although both have the coat of arms embossed on them. Also i have a death plaque with the woowich arsenal stamp.Any idea when they stopped producing plaques, and is it unusual to have the E Carter stamp missing on some plaques thanks. brookes

Spud Trevor Posted 8 June , 2009 Share Posted 8 June , 2009 Hello Brrokes, My suggestion for understanding the complexities of plaque production dates, etc, would be to check on The British Medal Forum. They've a very detailed thread looking at many different aspects. I've seen the ECP initials in differing degree's of clarity, my personal view is it would be one of the first features to deteriorate as the die got worn.
