Remembered Today:

2/5th KOYLI Photo Album

At long last I've managed to sort out 86 images from one of my grandfather's photo albums. These are of the 2/5th KOYLI with a few 1/5th KOYLI men while training in the UK during 1915-16. The majority are April-May 1915 at Stresall, Summer 1915 at Beveley, a few from Larkhill in 1916 and one or two from Flixton Park 1916. I've had to re-organise the album into some sort of order which may be a little subjective at times. It is mainly photographs of people, groups of people or general shots of the camps. There's not a lot of actual training going on in the photos. I have captioned each image as per my grandfather and then used a second caption to provide a bit more information or corrections

The photos are located at this link and there should be a slide show option.

Thanks for that, I may have a few queries on some of these people in the near future.

Tim,

Great Photos

RE photo 60

Imperial Hydro, Hornsea, East Yorkshire.

The Hydro opened in summer 1913 and featured, for example,

luxurious mahogany panelled rooms, a theatre, a ballroom, Turkish baths and an

indoor swimming pool. However, when the First World War broke out, the hotel was

commandeered by the Army for an Officers School of Instruction.
