TEW Posted 6 June , 2009 Share Posted 6 June , 2009 (edited) At long last I've managed to sort out 86 images from one of my grandfather's photo albums. These are of the 2/5th KOYLI with a few 1/5th KOYLI men while training in the UK during 1915-16. The majority are April-May 1915 at Stresall, Summer 1915 at Beveley, a few from Larkhill in 1916 and one or two from Flixton Park 1916. I've had to re-organise the album into some sort of order which may be a little subjective at times. It is mainly photographs of people, groups of people or general shots of the camps. There's not a lot of actual training going on in the photos. I have captioned each image as per my grandfather and then used a second caption to provide a bit more information or corrections The photos are located at this link and there should be a slide show option. http://s970.photobucket.com/user/twhiteaway/library/WWI/KOYLI TEW Edited 13 November , 2019 by TEW Replacing link

joseph Posted 7 June , 2009 Share Posted 7 June , 2009 Tim, Great Photos RE photo 60 Imperial Hydro, Hornsea, East Yorkshire. The Hydro opened in summer 1913 and featured, for example, luxurious mahogany panelled rooms, a theatre, a ballroom, Turkish baths and an indoor swimming pool. However, when the First World War broke out, the hotel was commandeered by the Army for an Officers School of Instruction. Regards Charles
