The London Gazette doesn't carry citations for the Croix de Guerre but the announcment of the award in April 1918, would suggest that the event for which it was awarded occured in 1917 at some point. Quite often these awards were not for specific acts, but a group of awards would often be given to the British for tehm to decide who was most worthy.

London Gazette 15-4-1918

War Office,

15th April, 1918.

The fallowing are among the Decorations and medals awarded by the Allied Powers at various dates to the British Forces for distinguished services rendered during the course of the campaign:—

His Majesty the King has given unrestricted permission in all cases to wear the Decorations and medals in question.

Decorations conferred by HIS MAJESTY THE KING OF THE BELGIANS.

Croix de Guerre.

56909 Gunner Archibald Armstrong, Royal Field Artillery (Langholm, Dumfriesshire).
