Alfiespud Posted 4 June , 2009 Share Posted 4 June , 2009 Hi, can anyone help me identify these cap badges all i know is they both are wellard's. No other information available. If anyone can help me identify the badges that would be good. I can then try and marry up other family info to identify them. Alfiespud
ralphjd Posted 4 June , 2009 Share Posted 4 June , 2009 Welcome to the Forum. I am fairly certain that the top badge is the SOUTH LANCASHIRE PRINCE OF WALES VOLUNTEERS. Still looking at the bottom badge but it may be the Royal Artillery. Ralph.
ralphjd Posted 4 June , 2009 Share Posted 4 June , 2009 The bottom badge could be an artillery badge either Royal Artillery, Royal Horse Artillery or the Honourable Artillery Company. Regards Ralph.

I spoke to a family memebr today and if the second photo is of the Royal Artillery we think we know who he is, Richard John Wellard, and the other if the badge is the South Lancashire regiment, it is his brother sydney George Wellard. ralphjd Posted 18 June , 2009 Share Posted 18 June , 2009 The service records for the letter W are not yet on Ancestry, if survived they will show if he was in hospital. Ralph.
