IJDALLINGER Posted 1 June , 2009 Share Posted 1 June , 2009 I have a record of a Captain Meredith serving in the RAMC at Stow Maries Aerodrome in 1918 but no further details. Could anyone help please?

sotonmate Posted 2 June , 2009 Share Posted 2 June , 2009 SC Do you have an initial (or two,or more) for the captain ? There are several Captain Merediths in the series WO339 (service records) at Kew,though his file could have begun as a lower rank earlier in the War. IJDALLINGER Posted 3 June , 2009 Author Share Posted 3 June , 2009 Thanks for this. Unfortunately I dont. I only picked him up through correspondence to a local village hospital and it just refers to him as Capt Meredith.
BJanman Posted 3 June , 2009 Share Posted 3 June , 2009 I looked at the link posted by Pierre and noticed the aerodrome is in the Essex area. It could be Capt William Rice Meredith, he does not appear to have served abroad but relinquished his commission on 12th Feb 1919 due to ill health and his medal card for the SWB states he was living at 15 Kingswood Road, Goodmayes, Essex. A local search on this doctor may bring up a result?? Barbara
Ali Hollington Posted 3 June , 2009 Share Posted 3 June , 2009 Ancestry has what it describes as "UK Medical registers", searching under Meredith it brings up a number of entries for 1915 & 1919. George Lowe Meredith- in Leicester John Baldwin Meredith in N S Wales Richard Graves Meredith - Army Medical Service Richard William Meredith- Wellington, Somerset William Rice Meredith- Stratford Never looked at this resource before, but Richard Graves Meredith would look the most likely of these options.
