Meachen. Charles Edgar Private 7th Battalion, Norfolk Reg Service number 12445 Died 29-12-1915 Loos Memorial Many thanks in advance Gordon
Pighills Posted 1 June , 2009 Share Posted 1 June , 2009 Hi Gordon Here's Charles' MiC from ancestry. You can get a two week free trial on Ancestry and use it to look up as much as you want during that time, just remember to cancel it in plenty of time before your two weeks are up. ralphjd Posted 1 June , 2009 Share Posted 1 June , 2009 Gordon. Welcome to the Forum. You will find the following on FREEBMD for your man :- birth registered in St Faiths June qtr of 1881, marriage registered in Norwich to Clara Elizabeth Slater in 1904. Soldiers Died cd has him born Old Catten Norwich and enlisting Norwich, the disc could cost you up to £3-400 but you can access it at local libraries. Ancestry has a Medal Index Card for him, he entered France on the 30th May 1915 and was entitled to the 1915 Star, British War and Victory medals. Some kind member will no doubt post the card on here shortly (I would but do not know how )Cannot trace any service papers on Ancestry for him, looks like they were part of the 70% destroyed in the Blitz. Regards Ralph. Edit. What did I tell you card posted before I said so, now thats some going !!!! Thanks Kim.
